The Commercial Building Awards were started in 1991 by a group of REALTORS® who were concerned that commercial development within the Greater Victoria area was not receiving the recognition it deserved.
The Commercial Building Awards competition is recognized among architects, builders and developers and the real estate community as a prestigious event dedicated to the advancement of excellence in construction and design. Because of its success, the Victoria Commercial Building Awards program is now being emulated by various real estate boards throughout BC and across Canada.
The Commercial Division of the Victoria Real Estate Board is dedicated to advancement in quality developments and to encouraging a better environment within our community and is proud to sponsor this annual competition.
2012 COMMERCIAL BUILDING AWARDS
The 21st Annual Commercial Building Awards will take place in November 2012 at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort. Exact date to be announced.
For the past 20 years the awards competition has recognized developers, architects, designers, builders, owners and financiers for enhancing commercial real estate stock, for stimulating urban renewal, and for the risks they undertake to build and renovate commercial space in our communities.
Nominations and Project Eligibility
Investment, commercial or industrial building, development or renovation projects located within the Capital Regional District and completed between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012 are eligible for an award.
There is no cost to submit a nomination, and anyone can nominate a project.
An official nomination form will be posted to this website by the first week of June and must be received by the VREB no later than 4:30pm on Friday, July 27, 2012.
Judging
Each year competition judges look at the overall exterior design of each building or development project and how it fits into the surrounding area. They base their final decisions on projects that are sensitive to the environment, are aesthetically pleasing and answer a specific developmental need within the community.
