The Commercial Division of the Victoria Real Estate Board was started in 1974 to promote commercial activity within the Greater Victoria Area. It comprises a group of REALTORS® who are members of the Board and who are interested in exchanging ideas, sharing information and learning about the different aspects involved in the listing and selling of industrial, commercial and investment real estate.
Commercial Division members meet ten times yearly to attend networking luncheons where speakers from the local business community share industry updates and members are able to market their clients' haves and wants.
Division members support the commercial real estate and development community by hosting an annual Commercial Building Awards event which recognizes excellence in commercial real estate renovation and development; through active participation in the Canadian Commercial Council of REALTORS® and BC Commercial Council of REALTORS®; as well as in helping to produce products and systems that assist their clients in marketing their properties and businesses to interested buyers or tenants. This includes development of commercial-specific websites such as CLS Link.ca, ICX.ca and also the member-to-member Commercial Broadcast Email Service that allows members to market their properties directly to other members across the province of BC.
The aims of the Commercial Division are:
- To provide members with a strong interactive network to meet and to exchange ideas of mutual benefit;
- To sponsor seminars and to provide educational material for members;
- To promote the professionalism of REALTORS® specializing in commercial real estate;
- To promote commercial activity within Greater Victoria;
- To ensure that members have up-to-date technological tools necessary to conduct their business;
- To provide networking opportunities with others in the real estate community;
- To promote the interests of Division members and their clients through interaction and cooperation with government agencies and other industry organizations;
- To promote excellence in building design and development in the Greater Victoria area through its annual Commercial Building Awards Competition.
